Intercepting at the boundary
Almost all of the additional soil arrives on footwear and on air movement through openings. So the primary control is at the entrance: matting that is maintained rather than saturated, an external sweep of the immediate approach, and attention to the transition zone inside the door where material is deposited. Getting that right removes far more soil than any amount of additional work further inside the building.
Windows and doors matter too. Construction dust enters through any opening, and on a site where doors are propped for ventilation or deliveries the ingress is continuous. Where the building can be closed during peak activity next door, that helps more than cleaning does. That is a conversation with the occupier rather than something the crew can control, and it is worth having explicitly. Closing the building during peak activity next door does more than any additional cleaning will.
